DACI
(Driver, Approver, Contributors, Informed)
Make it crystal clear who's leading, who gets the final say, who helps out, and who just needs to be in the know for any decision.
How to implement
Driver
The individual who is responsible for driving the decision-making process. This person will typically gather information, propose options, and manage the process to reach a conclusion. 1
Approver
The person or group who has the authority to make the final decision and sign off on it. There is usually only one Approver for each decision.
Contributors
The individuals or teams whose input, expertise, and perspectives are needed to inform the decision. They provide valuable information and feedback to the Driver.
Informed
The individuals or teams who need to be kept informed about the decision once it has been made. They don’t actively participate in the decision-making process but need to know the outcome.
Example
For a decision on which new CRM software to implement, here’s a DACI implementation:
Driver: Jane from the Sales Operations team will lead the evaluation and proposal process.
Approver: The VP of Sales will have the final approval on the chosen software and budget.
Contributors: Representatives from the Sales, Marketing, and IT teams will provide their requirements and feedback during the evaluation phase.
Informed: The Customer Support team and the executive leadership will be informed of the final decision and implementation timeline.”
